Game of Thrones actor Sean Bean has stunned a Sheffield charity by unexpectedly donating his 1973 Military Series III Lightweight to help raise funds at a charity auction.
This selfless act comes as Sheffield United Football Club, Bean’s beloved football team, is hosting a gala dinner and charity auction to raise money for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, one of only four dedicated cancer hospitals in England.
Nicknamed ‘The Blademobile’ after his childhood club, Bean donated the autographed Series III after being asked for some signed collectables for the auction by the Blades.
Operations Director at Sheffield United, David McCarthy, said: ‘When we made the request to Sean we anticipated getting some signed memorabilia, never did we imagine that Sean would provide his very own Land Rover.
‘It is a remarkable gesture by Sean to help us to support a charity where he is a trustee.
The Charity’s Director Samantha Kennedy said: ‘We are very thankful to charity patron, Sean Bean, for donating his Land Rover which will hopefully raise even more money for such worthy causes across the region.
The dinner and auction will be held at the magnificent Chatsworth House on Sunday 6 December and will see many of Sheffield United's directors, vice presidents, sponsors and staff along with representatives of the hospital and the charity supporting.
