The 500,000th Evoque has rolled off the Halewood production line making the upstart the fastest-selling Land Rover ever produced.
Half a million of them have now left their Merseyside factory and even more impressively, for every three Land Rovers sold in the world one of them is the ever-popular SUV.
Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer at Land Rover, said: ‘Evoque has been a huge success for Land Rover winning more than 165 international awards, bringing new customers to the brand and evolving to stay ahead of the competition.
Behind the success lies the Liverpool plant where a new vehicle leaves the factory production line every 80 seconds as it operates 24 hours a day.
Richard Else, Operations Director at Halewood, said: ‘The Range Rover Evoque has been a fantastic success for Halewood and for Jaguar Land Rover. We are very proud of our award winning SUV and we are looking forward to welcoming the new Evoque Convertible to Halewood very soon.’
The Evoque has been a feather in the cap for Land Rover since the LRX Concept was first revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in 2008.
It proved instantly popular amongst buyers ever since first going into production in 2011, smashing the 100,000 mark in under a year – the first Land Rover ever to do so.
This Spring will see the arrival of the all-new Evoque Convertible with prices starting at a cool £47,500.
