Old bangers and priceless thoroughbreds of all vintages will be taking to the roads in a month’s time for Drive It Day 2016, held on Sunday 24 April.
We’ll be joining in with our own vehicles (Team LRO had 37 Land Rovers at the last count) but a few will need a bit of love first. In fact we have a clutch of MoT certificates to earn…
Workshop writer Martin is spending the weekend replacing his Defender 110’s springs and dampers and carrying out his pre-MoT check, and Theo will be trying to get to the bottom of a headlight issue with his Series IIA that foiled a recent attempt at getting it through an MoT.
Meanwhile, weather permitting, dep ed Neil will be wielding his welder to replace some rusty metal on his Land Rovers with some of better integrity, and assistant editor Mark will be replacing the oils in the gearbox, IRD and rear diff on his new Freelander 1, ‘Victor’.
Don’t forget to share your workshop progress on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and if you’re really proud of your work, email us – we might want to get you in the magazine! Write to Theo (theo@LRO.com) if you’re interested.
Land Rover events to go to this Bank Holiday weekend
If you’re lucky enough to have a fully functioning Land Rover, take it out for a spin with the family!
LRO’s Adventure Club is running a Wiltshire Greenlane Safari this weekend (£100 per vehicle). Get in touch with Vince Cobley and his team if you want to tag along. Call 01536 772238.
Or how about going off-road at Kirton’s 600-acre off-road site in Lincolnshire (£40 per vehicle per day)? Call KORC on 01652 640914.
For other ideas, check out LRO’s online events listing.
