Apparently we each waste an average of 15 minutes a day looking for lost items. We’re pretty sure for some people its much more than that. (LRO’s Theo has been looking for the keys to his Discovery for weeks…)
From 2017, Land Rover will be the first carmaker to fully integrate Tile, a Bluetooth tracking app that alerts the driver when they forget items like their wallet, keys, laptop, wife or anything missing from the car when you get in.
The idea is simple. You attach the little white Tile tracker to items you are likely to need or forget, and when you get into your shiny new 2017 Discovery Sport without them you will be told through the InControl app system in the car. If they’re in the car, a little alarm will sound to let you know.
So you’ll never drive away from the house without something you need. Happy days!
Mike Farley, CEO of Tile, said: ‘We're really excited to be partnering with Jaguar Land Rover. We believe this integration will provide many benefits such as […] peace of mind about the whereabouts of essential items, helping drivers save time before they embark on journeys.’
The only slight downside is that one Tile costs $25 (£17ish), but that’s probably a snip if you're about to splash out on a new Discovery Sport.
So next year the Discover Sport will be the first car that, unlike Theo, never forgets.
