Land Rover’s Classic division is restoring 25 Series Is to their original 1948 factory spec and will offer the public the chance to buy them.
We’ve known for a couple of years that Land Rover has been plotting something similar, and their first Series I resto is a sight to behold (you’ll be able to read about this amazing vehicle in the May issue of LRO, on 18 May.)
The team at Land Rover will now use their wealth of experience to hand pick 25 Series I from their contacts around the world, then completely restore the vehicles using carefully sourced parts.
Based at the Classic workshop in Solihull, you’ll be able to pick your preferred base and follow the restoration from start to finish with the final figure likely to be around £60,000 to £80,000.
You can even pick from five original colours: Light Green, Bronze Green, RAF Blue, Dove Grey or Poppy Red.
Tim Hannig, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic, said: ‘The launch of the Reborn initiative represents a fantastic opportunity for customers to own a valuable and collectable automotive icon.
‘[The Reborn initiative] showcases Land Rover Classic’s expertise in restoring and maintaining our loyal customers’ prized Land Rovers. It also demonstrates the business’ commitment to supporting customers with original and genuine parts for Land Rover models that have been out for production for longer than 10 years.’
You can see the launch of the ‘Reborn’ initiative when it debuts at Techno-Classica in Essen, Germany, in April 6-10.
