For 20 years Ulrich Dolde dreamt of travelling the world in his own overlanding truck but with the price of purpose built trucks so high, he decided to build one himself.
He quit his job and used his pension savings to buy an old army truck. Then he and his wife Edith set about building their own overlander.
Once built, their truck took them to Morocco and the Western Sahara then back home through Spain, Portugal and France in a trip lasting 8 months. He had lived his dream.
When they came back Ulrich wrote a book on how he built the truck from the ground up. The book has over a hundred five-star ratings on Amazon and is considered a bible for the building campervans, RVs and overlanders.
One small problem. The book was written in his native tongue – German. But such is the demand for the book he’s had numerous requests for a translation in English. That’s where the Kickstarter campaign comes in.
The money raised will go towards publishing an English version so that more people can learn how to build theirs just like Ulrich did.
With 10 days to go the campaign has had 90 backers raising €5287 of the €20,000 target so far.
