Inspired by driving the Help4Heroes 4x4 European Rally back in 2015, Land Rover owner Daffy Thom is organising a new fundraising event for late September.
Setting off from the Norfolk coast (location TBA), participants will arrive near Aberystwyth in Ceredigion three days later. The non-speed event will include greenlanes along the way and off-road challenges at Tixover – the disused quarry in Rutland used for the LRO Show’s off-road course.
Maps and road books will guide the way, and teamwork and general knowledge will also be rewarded, with the winning participants earning the ‘C2C 4x4 Adventure Trophy’.
Participants will be expected to camp. Caravans are not allowed, but capable off-road camping trailers are.
‘I had this crazy idea on New Year’s Eve, so I contacted a few of my good friends, and the outcome of conversations was – why the hell not?!’ says organiser Daffy.
‘We’re launching the event in May at the Gaydon Land Rover Show, and tickets will be available from then to the beginning of September. We’re hoping for 10-20 vehicles to take part.’
All brands of 4x4 are welcome.
The event’s Facebook page ‘Coast to Coast 4x4 Adventure’ is expected to go live later this month.
