We can all still use our Land Rovers to support a good cause while staying at home, despite the ongoing lockdown in the UK.
Classics for Carers, which raised thousands of pounds for NHS Charities Together last summer, is arranging another huge digital gathering on March 20. This event isn’t just for Land Rover owners, it’s for all classic vehicles and bikes, making it a nationwide celebration of heritage transportation.
The aim is to raise a further £13,000 to fund a ‘well being pod, a quiet restorative space for staff’, during the most stressful period that hospital staff have ever had to endure. The day of the event, 20 March, will commemorate almost a full year since the start of the UK’s first lockdown which began on 23 March 2020.
On the day of the event, classic vehicle owners are invited to take part by sharing images and videos on social media, using the hashtag #classicsforcarers. It’s the perfect excuse to wheel your project out from the shed, or polish your pride and joy on the driveway, and let others get a look at it. Individuals, clubs and businesses are all encouraged to join in.
And crucially, don’t forget to support the event by donating to the event's Just Giving page, or by buying a commemorative plaque or sticker from their website.
Classics for Carers was voted winner of the Motoring Spectacle award in the 2020 Royal Automobile Club Historic Awards – a recognition which CFC’s organiser Nick Chivers described as ‘a true testament to everyone who supported the events of 2020.’
