I borrowed this Laser Flaring Tool 10pc (Part No. 2943) from Neil to see if it was any easier to use than my one. Although this one is about 20 quid more than mine, it's worth the extra. It worked perfectly at my first attempt. I needed to make a male and a female flare and both came out great; unlike the mixed results I got with my own tool. This one comes with its own pipe-cutting tool; essential for making good flares. The cutter can handle copper, brass and thin-walled aluminium tubing from 3-30mm diameter, and piping 5-16mm. Dies in the kit include 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/6, 1/2 and 5/8in and spare dies are available. The standard size on a Land Rover is 3/16 - the rest of the dies won't see much use!

Verdict: It's easy to get good results. Now I have my own!
