Lucas switches are a pain to remove and refit. Most people use a screwdriver to tap the bezel round, and scratches are inevitable when it slips from the groove.
So I bought these, which work on standard round Lucas bezels fitted to switches and ignition barrels. Spending £18 on a pair of tools that - likemost owners - I'll probably use once every couple of years seems an indulgence, but they work perfectly, enabling me to remove stubborn switches and properly tighten replacements so they won't come loose (or spin if the holes aren't D-shaped). They fit accurately and work on sunken bezels such as those on Series III dashboards. And I've not managed to scratch a dash since!
Verdict: Not cheap, but could save you from inflicting expensive scratches.
