Loosely resembling the considerably more expensive GoPro, this Vivitar camera films 720p high-definition video. It has a fixed-focus wide-angle lens, takes a micro SD card up to 32GB, saves files in AVI format and is supplied with a waterproof case, bike handlebar and helmet/flat Velcro mount.
You can see what the camera is recording on the rear screen – and it will also take still photographs. Image quality is adequate rather than impressive, with a significant circle of over-exposure visible in the centre of the frame. And to use in the Land Rover, I’ve had to buy a small window suction mount (£2.99, 7dayshop.com). For the price that I paid (a discounted £69.99) I think it’s okay, but £100 is too expensive.
Verdict: Cheap, but you’re getting what you pay for.
