What’s the story?
Andy Taylor, a relatively new Land Rover ‘convert’ realised his dream of owning and restoring an ex-MoD 109in Series III, to use for wild camping trips and feeding his partner’s horses. Bought as an eBay bargain, sight unseen, Andy travelled by train to collect and drive the motor home in a five-hour haul.
Our favourite bit?
The fact that having only recently discovered the joys of Land Rover ownership, thanks to a Freelander 1, Andy’s childhood and teenage experiences of working in his grandfather’s car dealership, preparing vehicles for sale, ignited his burning desire to rescue this Land Rover.
And the verdict from LRO writer Mark Saville?
So far, Andy has only dealt with the cosmetic issues, transforming a fairly scabby NATO SIII into this striking and very well presented machine. It really looks the part romping around Avalanche Adventure’s off-road site in Northamptonshire (avalancheadventure.co.uk).
