What’s the story?
Father and son team restore a battered ex-trials Ninety, shoe-horning a stonking great 6.5-litre GM V8 diesel under the bonnet in the process. Topped-off with a cool paint job and uprated suspension, this now stunning station wagon puts out 442lb ft of torque.
Our favourite bit?
The noise it makes. It’s unique and hypnotic. There simply isn’t anything as delicious as a V8 engine being unleashed and thoroughly thrashed. When combined with a totally rebuilt Ninety, it’s an unbeatable combination.
And the verdict from LRO writer Jerry Thurston?
This is clearly one of the top three Land Rovers I’ve ever written about. It’s the almost demure, girl-next-door looks coupled with the naughty secret under the bonnet that does it for me.
Engine: 6.5-litre GM V8 diesel
Torque: 442lb ft
