This Defender 90 has been the first and only Land Rover in the family since my dad bought it in 2000. He chose it because it wasn’t in a typical farmer colour and wasn’t in the usual farmer-battered condition.
Oh… and because he was under orders from mum not to buy an old farmer’s Land Rover!
Sadly dad passed away suddenly in May 2007. We kept the Land Rover going because it was something to remember him by, but slowly its condition got worse and worse.
Eventually we decided to have a complete ground-up rebuild carried out, as a way of keeping dad’s memory alive and strong for years to come.
So we sent it to Liveridge 4x4, who did an incredible job rebuilding it in just three weeks. The work included a galvanised chassis, and we had it built to a spec that would enable it to carry on its previous duties as a workhorse in tree surgery, which is my job. Hence the winch, big suspension and Insa Turbo Special Track tyres. However, we kept the original 200Tdi as it’s such a good engine to work with.
I would love to go on a big road trip in it some time – but with different tyres, because the ones that are fitted now are quite loud! Anyone got a set of ear muffs I could borrow?
