A sudden craving made me purchase a 1988 Ninety in 2006, 30 years after I sold my first Series IIA 109in. Then I met Doug, who ran an off-road training course, and by 2009 I’d bought his Discovery 2.
I’m now a member of the Land Rover Owners’ Club Auckland, which caters for all degrees of driver capability. I occasionally use the Disco to travel in armchair comfort to the South Island to pursue my hobby of landscape photography. Doug and I are working our way through 150 four-wheel-drive trails in New Zealand.
I’ve since added a Series IIA diesel 109in flat-bed to the collection, and a few modifications to the D2.
